What does it mean if my cortisone injection isn't working?

What does it mean if my cortisone injection isn't working?

I got a Depo-Medrol shot- 3mls in my bottom- on Monday. I was told that I would have relief between 24-48 hours. However, it's been 4 days and I haven't had any relief. I lay in bed for three hours last night in terrible pain, wondering if I was going crazy and all of this pain is in my head.

Have any of you had cortisone injections that didn't work? Could you shed some light for me on reasons why it didn't work? Does it not working mean that my pain… read more

Medrol

Medrol

What are the serious side effects that I read when someone is teetering off Prednisone or Medrol after being on it pretty much for 3 to 4 years straight? On it up to 15, 20 mg a day as no other RA medication, infusions, shots, pills included, all stopped working on me. Horrible painful flairs constantly, never goes away for even a day, and all I would get are pills, and also in IVs at emergency :/
I would like to try to stop them all together as they will end up killing me before the disease and all the… read more

Does anybody else have trouble holding the trigger on the petrol pump at the filling station (gas station for our American friends)?

I feel such a wimp standing there struggling to hold the trigger open while I fill my car, this is another case of looking as though nothing is wrong with me but not being able to function properly. The lady in the kiosk asked me why she hadn't seen me lately and I had to admit to seeking out attended stations where I could get somebody else to fill my car. Does anybody have any… read more

Travel with RA

Travel with RA

Hi. Has anyone here with RA gone on a cruise? It is my first one after diagnosis and
I am concerned about mobility on a large ship. Trying to decide if I should get a scooter just in case. Would appreciate any insights.

Has anyone experienced tears in their tendons that were found to be related to their RA?

Has anyone experienced tears in their tendons that were found to be related to their RA?

I have Peroneal tendon tears in both ankles that the Orthopaedic surgeon said are normal...for an 80 year old...not a 51 year old. I haven’t injured my ankles but have been experiencing pain and swelling in my ankles and feet for some time that comes and goes. X-rays were normal but MRI showed the tears, swelling, Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis (with tear with chronic tears in one), and in one of the ankles I have an… read more

Methotrexate

Methotrexate

I have avoided methotrexate for over 10 yrs, but now my rheum says to give it a try, as in the last yr, I have been on 5 different biologics and had reactions to 4 of them. Had my 1st dose last Wed and was wondering how long until you know if it will work? I am also on Cimzia for the last 3 months with no relief.
