I've been on Enbrel for 2+ years and Humira prior to that. Enbrel worked fairly for the first year or so but I've been having a lot of joint damage in my fingers. Not much pain though. After my last Rheumatologist visit he has suggested trying Xeljanz and has submitted a prescription to my pharmacy (CVS Specialty Pharmacy). So far it has been rejected and they want me to first try Kevzara and Orencia. I haven't found anyone who has used Kevzara and it was only approved in 2017. I know… read more
I’m on Enbrel and was exposed to two people today with the flu for extended periods. I’m wondering if there would be any benefit in going to a doctor now (because I catch everything) or if I have to just sit back and wait to see if symptoms develop.
Has anyone experienced weight gain from any of the following arthritis medications?
Trying to figure out what could be causing my weight gain of over 35 pounds in under a year. Thanks!
Hello all -
I was taken off of Enbrel for a short time due to a skin reaction. While off RA medications, I had two root canals and was put on antibiotics (amoxicillin). While still on anabiotics, I took a vacation to the cold Southern deserts of Utah at a very high altitude. I was dreading the cold and change in climate expecting to feel achy. Surprisingly, I didn’t have any of my RA symptoms until the last day at the airport when we were flying out of… read more
I've been at my current job for 6 months and unfortunately have had a flare recently that has led me to miss some work. I've been very upfront about my condition with my employer, which has taken me time to practice as I used to be afraid of discrimination when I started out in my career. My boss is kind and not discriminatory at all...but she still doesn't quite seem to get that I can have random, unpredictable flares and sometimes need to take time off.
For those of you who work… read more
Arnica is great for bruises, sprains, soreness, and swelling and for the relief of arthritis, muscle, and joint pain. It comes as tinctures, creams, salves, ointments, gels and oils, all for topical use. These products are available at health food stores and at some pharmacies. I prefer the tincture, which smells good and feels good. You can massage it into any injured area with unbroken skin.
I have RA in my spine and have had it for a very long time. I've had surgery in my neck where they placed a 6" brace along with wire mesh, a couple of screws, some cadaver bones etc. I live in Michigan and it can be say 40 degrees when you wake up and then 20 degrees at lunch time so it's easy to get caught unprepared. My issue is my neck and down my back a little way feels like a sharp knife if it gets cold. My family think I'm crazy because I wear all kinds of layers at home… read more
I get burning sensations on patches of skin on my arms (near the elbow), legs (near the knee) and on the backs of my feet. These come and go but I usually have some burning sensation somewhere ~once per day. The 'burning' site is not hot or red. I take Enbrel once/week and 600 mg gabapentin twice/day (the latter on the assumption that the burning is a neuropathic pain). Gabapentin doesn't seem to help. Anyone have this? Is this an Enbrel side effect? Or a symptom of RA? Anything that… read more
I’m wondering what other treatments doctors have prescribed to supplement Enbrel.
