Seronegative med troubles

Seronegative med troubles

Hi all! Was diagnosed with Seronegative RA in November 2018. I just turned 29. Initially started Plaquenil and prednisone for 6 weeks with no improvement, and worsening of symptoms/joints affected. Dr said all of my bloodwork came back negative for RF, anti-CCP, etc. the only “positive” was ANA. Was then started on 5 Methotrexate for another 6 weeks, and labs again were negative. I am now taking 7 Methotrexate once weekly and still have to take Prednisone daily. I have whole body aches,… read more

Diet?

Diet?

DIET? Does anyone know of a particular diet or book (nutrition-wise) that can explain to me what I should be eating or avoiding? I asked my rheumatologist if I could see a dietician/nutritionist about an "anti-inflammatory" diet and he basically told me that there wasn't any medical basis to those. I felt like I had wandered into some weird or inappropriate territory, somehow?! I have already cut out gluten, dairy, msg, preservatives, fake sugar, and most caffeine. But I recently read that I should not eat… read more

Has anyone been able to get pre-menstrual flares under control without taking birth control?

Has anyone been able to get pre-menstrual flares under control without taking birth control?

Even though my RA treatment is working really well, I still get unbearable flares every month that start a couple days before my period. I tried BC after several people said it worked for them. BC did help but I decided to stop taking it after experiencing severe side effects.

Please tell me there is another solution.

skin burning sensation

skin burning sensation

I get burning sensations on patches of skin on my arms (near the elbow), legs (near the knee) and on the backs of my feet. These come and go but I usually have some burning sensation somewhere ~once per day. The 'burning' site is not hot or red. I take Enbrel once/week and 600 mg gabapentin twice/day (the latter on the assumption that the burning is a neuropathic pain). Gabapentin doesn't seem to help. Anyone have this? Is this an Enbrel side effect? Or a symptom of RA? Anything that… read more

Humira or Cimzia United health care wont cover Enbrel til I try these

So my Dr wanted me to take Enbrel but United health care wont cover it until I try Humira and Cimzia first and they prove to not work. Or they work and I keep using them. Dont you love that insurance companies can prescribe meds now???!!!

Anyway I need to chose between Cimzia or Humira. Any thoughts? I am already on MTX and Plaquenil and they are not cutting it.We will be dropping the Plaquenil when I start the new what ever I pick.

I was… read more

burning in both kneecaps and elbows. i have severe and erosive RA, OA and polyarthritis. Which arthirtis does this match?

I am on enbrel and my Rheumy wants me to take plaquinel. I am currently dairy, gluten free, sugar is very limited. The burning sensation is in both knees and elbows, i want to take the least harmful drug for relief. I take tylenol and it seems to help some with the burning. I also have extreme fatigue and brain fog so bad that some days i find it difficult to carry on a conversation.. is the… read more
