Hey KevinNagle. I take Rinvoq only. And it changed my world. Even helps with fatigue. Yes I still have good days and bad days. But not as bad as before.

How effective is Rinvoq 15 mg when combined with methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis?

Rinvoq (upadacitinib) is an FDA-approved JAK1 inhibitor for moderate to severe RA in adults. It's specifically designed for people who haven't responded well to methotrexate alone, and it can be prescribed either on its own or alongside methotrexate. When combined with methotrexate, Rinvoq works by blocking JAK1 enzymes that drive inflammation, while methotrexate helps regulate the immune system to reduce joint damage. Together, they can offer a complementary approach to managing RA symptoms.

Some common side effects of Rinvoq to be aware of include:

- Upper respiratory infections
- Fever
- Nausea
- Cough

There are also rare but serious risks, including:

- Life-threatening infections
- Blood clots
- Liver problems
- Lymphomas
- Tuberculosis

It's also worth noting that combining methotrexate with other medications can sometimes raise methotrexate levels in the body, potentially increasing side effects. Always check with your rheumatologist or pharmacist about how these two medications interact for your specific situation.
