Members shared creative and practical solutions for the challenge of getting in and out of the bathtub safely when hands and wrists are too painful to help. Several members described transitioning to walk-in showers or walk-in tubs with jets as game-changers, while others suggested sliding shower chairs found on Amazon as a helpful option that avoids strain on hands and wrists. A warm recurring theme was that many members rely on caring partners for assistance, and the thread turned into a joyful exchange of love stories that left everyone feeling less alone.

Well this sounds crazy. Back in the day when I was taking tub baths, I used grab bars to get in the tub. As time went on with all of my foot surgeries I was scared of falling. I used bath mats and grab bars. I would have to get on my knees and work my way up by using the grab bars. It was getting dangerous when I would slip even though I would dry myself before trying to get out. I started taking showers and used a shower chair. I decided to buy a walk in tub/shower. I do not regret it at all. I now enjoy the jets and Itโ€™s relaxing.

@A myRAteam Member I just looked to see what I could find since a Frank didn't end up being a solution. Have you looked at sliding shower chairs? I'm not going to try to describe it to you, but if you can at least stand up in the tub this might help. It doesn't involve using your hands or wrists, but you do need to be able to stand up so you can sit in the chair. You can remove the chair while in the bath, then just pull it back in when your ready to get out.

I hope it's helpful! Some of them are a bit pricy if your on a fixed income though. I found several on Amazon.
