Members rallied around the question of misconceptions about RA, with the strongest shared frustration being that people hear the word 'arthritis' and assume it's minor, when in reality it is a full-body autoimmune disease with relentless, unpredictable pain. Several members suggested calling it an autoimmune disease instead, finding that people respond with more understanding, and many described the exhausting reality of working full time, caregiving, and managing symptoms that can change hour to hour. A recurring theme was the deep comfort found in this community, where members lifted each other with humor, encouragement, and the simple relief of finally being truly understood.

Anytime people can’t see what’s going on inside of you, they assume that there’s nothing going on inside of you!
