Hi Lauren,
Not necessarily. You need to bring up the swelling and water retension to your Rheumatologist.
Try keeping a journal that includes date, time, activity outcome, swelling etc. This will help when deciding treatment. You may need to some Specialist to rule out any other issues, such as heart, vascular, etc.
Meanwhile, walk as much as possible, keep your feet elevated, drink lots of water and let us know what you find out from your Rheumatologist.
