I have experienced 3 Flares in 30 days. How can you tell if a biologic like Enbrel has stopped being effective for you? Is this what happens?

Members shared personal experiences with Enbrel and other biologics losing effectiveness over time, noting signs like shorter relief between doses, more frequent flares, and returning joint pain. Several members offered practical advice, including tracking flare triggers in a journal, asking about adding medications like Celecoxib, and noting that lab markers don't always reflect how someone truly feels. A recurring theme was encouragement to advocate for yourself with your doctor, lean on the community for support, and hold onto hope that better days are possible with the right treatment plan.

You are most welcome Shamae!!!

Absolutely ask him if he feels Celecoxib could be helpful!

I will tell you that my husband is not one to complain to our Dr but his hands hurt him so bad. He does not have RA but his fingers are deformed and he has a lot of inflammation.

Our last Dr visit I mentioned this to his shock! Lol! Anyway I suggested perhaps Celecoxib might help??? Dr agreed and Brad's been taking it a few weeks and he has thanked me more than once for suggesting it. He feels it really is helping!

I hope this helps you some!

Three flares in a month definitely sounds frustrating and worth discussing with your rheumatologist. Sometimes biologics can become less effective over time, but flares can also happen because of stress, illness, inflammation triggers, or changes in disease activity. A lot of people notice more frequent pain, stiffness, or shorter relief between doses when a medication is not working as well anymore.
