Thank you for replying. I want to take it to help with sleep . This is so helpful. Much appreciated
My RA Specialist stated Magnesiumm Glycinate 200 mg has no problem, by the way - I am taking the medication every other day not every day. I intend on keeping that medication in that form and not changing how it is taken as it works for the needs of my medical health. I take the Magnesium for more than just RA, I have multiple health issues that I prefer not to get into on this post.
You should use Magnesium Biglycinat.
------------------------------
## 1. The Methotrexate Paradox: Treating RA but Damaging the Gut
* The Goal: MTX is a folate antagonist. It slows down rapidly dividing cells to suppress the overactive immune system causing your RA joint inflammation. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
* The Collateral Damage: The cells lining your gut (enterocytes) are also among the fastest-dividing cells in the body. MTX accidentally targets them too.
* The Result: This cell damage breaks down the Tight Junctions (the glue holding your intestinal wall together), directly causing Leaky Gut Syndrome.
## 2. The Leaky Gut Problem: Why Standard Magnesium Fails
When MTX causes a leaky gut, standard magnesium absorption is severely disrupted in two ways:
------------------------------
## Why Magnesium Bisglycinate bypasses this entire problem:
As established, Magnesium Bisglycinate bypasses the damaged TRPM6/7 ion channels by using the PepT1 protein pathway.
1. It does not wait for healthy mineral channels; it slips through as a protein.
2. It does not draw water into the colon, preventing the diarrhea that plagues MTX patients.
3. The glycine it delivers actively helps repair the tight junctions broken by MTX, helping to "heal" the leaky gut and reduce RA systemic flares. [17]

Can you take a magnesium supplement with methotrexate?
Magnesium generally shouldn't interfere with methotrexate or other medications commonly used for rheumatoid arthritis. However, magnesium can interact with some other medications like certain laxatives, antacids, antibiotics, and diuretics.
