There’s been a delay in my paperwork for receiving enbrel 😞 been without for 3 weeks. Definitely feeling worse without it. What biologic has worked for you?

Members rallied around someone experiencing a delay in receiving Enbrel, sharing which biologics have worked best for them, with experiences ranging across Humira, Remicade, Orencia, Rituximab, Cimzia, and Actemra, each offering varying degrees of relief and remission. Several members offered practical strategies for navigating approval delays, including asking the doctor's office for samples, having the office contact insurance directly to push approvals through, and exploring patient assistance programs like Amgen, which many use to afford expensive medications. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error nature of finding the right biologic, the emotional toll of bureaucratic delays when living in pain, and the unwavering community support that kept the original poster encouraged throughout the month-long wait until approval finally came through.

Hello Veronica, the positive and upbeat chick... My Rheumatologist just gave me a brochure for Set Point implant to stimulate the Vagus nerve. Biologics are too strong for me. I did get remission with 3 different biologics but suffered infections, hairloss, skin issues and other side effects up to a year or more after stopping the therapy. Xeljanz was the longest. But no way to take a lower dose. The drug company decides that one lower measure should fit all as with biologics. They cant give half an infusion which is ridiculous. We all react to meds differently and its trial and error for each of us...dosage should be up to the doctor depending on patient physical information and history.

I am going to set an appointment with a Rheumatologist that does these Set Point implants here. The bullet sized implant is inserted in the neck. (A tad strange, but I'm not scared of it).

We have moved to the Houston area and Medical Care offers vast choices. Although Im traveling back to San Antonio every 3 months to keep my long time Rheumatologist. He also has a Patient Care team that calls me at least once a month for review, sharing information and keeping watch over symptoms. He understands patients feel so alone with this illness and need closer oversight when taking these type drugs. Because we dont always report everything during our office visits. I cant remember everything and forget what I needed to ask him. The nurses that call are patient, encouraging and ask all sorts of questions. They ask if we have any concerns and if the doctor should call me. They check on any changes, any issues that are troublesome, our diet, exercise, supplements, activities, our psychological wellness and sleep habits. I think its a great plan for keeping tabs on our health.

I hope you have success with your therapy and get to plant some flowers or have a fun successful shopping day with family or friends.

I am on Cimzia. Just started in January. Started to work for me. It took 3 months to find the right medication so needless to say my symptoms were not pleasant. I feel much better now.

Remicade was by far the best biologic I’ve been on. I was in remission for over 10 years on it. Those were the days 😉

I was on Rituxin for years. It worked very well for me putting RA in remision for 12 -18 months with each infusion.
I then had to go on the biosimilar, truxima, in order to keep medical coverage.
It didn't work well for me and then I had a reaction and stopped it.
Then tried Cimzia for 12mo. It didn't work for me and I had constant infections.
Now waiting to start another biologic.
