Members connected over the question of intense burning or pain in the mid-arm area, sharing that conditions like tendinitis, herniated discs, nerve damage, rotator cuff issues, and RA inflammation may all be contributing causes. Several members found relief through steroid injections, TENS units, topical arnica cream, muscle relaxers like tizanidine, gabapentin, Voltaren gel, and chiropractic care. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of this kind of pain, with many members openly sharing that they have cried from the intensity, while offering each other encouragement to keep advocating for answers.

Burning pain in the mid portion of the arm can be related to muscle inflammation, tendon involvement, or nerve irritation, especially in people with RA. Sometimes shoulder or neck issues can also refer pain to that area. If the pain is persistent, worsening, or accompanied by weakness or numbness, it should be evaluated by a rheumatologist or physician to determine the exact cause.

The Tizanidine tones down the intensity of the pain, but does not eliminate it.

My shoulder burns down to my elbow especially if I’m raising up folding clothes. I went to the orthopedic clinic. He put steroid shots in my shoulder and inner aspect of my elbow. It felt better after 2 days. I used the ice packs and TENS unit. It aches at times but no more burning
