Has anyone had such bad neck and clavicle pain that they became dizzy , nauseated, and almost passed out?

Rheumatoid arthritis. My pain has been 10/10 upon wakening in the areas I listed above. I have been on orencia now for 11 weeks. The pain was so bad , I became dizzy, nauseated, and sensitive to the sunlight. Luckily I was a passenger in the car and was able to lay my head down and shut my eyes. Within about 10 minutes , the feelings subsided I raised my head and the pain had left my clavicles and my neck. I noticed the pain situated in both knees down to my ankles. What you experienced sounds incredibly intense, and you're definitely not alone in having severe neck and collarbone pain with RA. Many myRAteam members describe constant, debilitating pain in these areas that affects their daily life.

The neck pain from RA can be chronic and severe because the condition attacks the joints in the cervical spine. One myRAteam member described their neck pain as hurting "every day and night," particularly bad "in the middle of the night." Another shared that "pain in their neck and shoulder will not let up."

Collarbone pain is also common since RA can affect the shoulder joints where the collarbone connects. Members describe this pain as sharp, throbbing, or burning, with one saying they had "throbbing pain under my armpit and across my collarbones." What you should know about your symptoms:

The severity of your pain (10/10) along with dizziness, nausea, and light sensitivity is concerning and warrants immediate medical attention. While severe neck pain is a known RA symptom, the additional symptoms you experienced—especially nearly passing out—need evaluation to rule out complications.

RA in the neck can cause nerve-related symptoms like radiculopathy (weakness, numbness, or pain radiating to extremities) and myelopathy (affecting the spinal cord). The fact that your pain migrated from your neck and clavicles to your knees and ankles is also worth discussing with your rheumatologist.

Since you're 11 weeks into Orencia treatment, it's important to let your rheumatologist know about this episode before your scheduled appointment. They may want to see you sooner or adjust your treatment plan, as untreated RA in the neck can lead to complications.
