I’ve been on Saxenda, Zepbound and Wegovy. I didn’t have any luck with the Saxenda, had tons of luck with Zepbound (lost 75 lbs) but insurance stopped covering it. The nausea was really bad with it though. Now I’ve switched to Wegovy for a maintenance dose and haven’t had any side effects. My weight is steady and I highly recommend GLP-1 meds to anyone who asks about them.

I was on 400mg of prednisone for 24 years up until three years ago when suddenly when watching television *and we keep the subtitles on as well... then one day the subtitles words looked crooked. End result Wet AMD so when I met the Retina specialist and he looked at the listing of all my medications he said that I must stop it immediately which I did. This is why I exercise as much as I can so not to be in pain. So far, so good. I was warned about taking Prednisone but felt that my eyesight was almost perfect and that nothing bad would happen to me... but it did. If there was a way for you to avoid taking the drug and instead taking something else you may not realize it but you might be doing yourself a huge favor.

I have not lost any weight being on a GLP 1. My Dr thinks it is because of the Prednisone. At least I’m not gaining weight from Prednisone, which was always a concern previously.

Are you considering GLP-1 medications for weight loss with rheumatoid arthritis?

The search results provided don't contain specific information about GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro) for weight loss in people with RA. However, weight management is definitely relevant to RA care.

Losing weight can help with RA in several ways:

* Reduces stress on inflamed joints
* Decreases inflammation (excess body fat produces inflammatory chemicals called cytokines)
* May improve how well certain RA medications work
* Can ease pain and improve mobility

Some myRAteam members have found success with weight loss through diet changes and exercise. One member shared losing 25 pounds through gym workouts and a diet high in vegetables and lean protein, which helped especially with hip and foot pain.

It's worth noting that some RA medications themselves can affect weight - some cause weight gain while others (like leflunomide) may lead to weight loss as a side effect.

For specific guidance about GLP-1 medications, you'll want to discuss this directly with your rheumatologist or primary care doctor. They can evaluate whether these medications are appropriate for you and how they might interact with your current RA treatments.

Ahh prednisone is a sneaky devil for pain. My sister takes it and now she has Cushing Syndrome and that’s another horrible disease
