Hallo everyone, hope you are having a good as can be day 😊.
My question might be more Fibromyalgia related, not sure.
I often have pain in the general ribcage area. Sometimes it feels like a belt is tightened around me. I can not fully inhale as suppose to because of pain. I have never mentioned this to a doctor before. For some reason it feels like something I did or do wrong.
Love for everyone ❀️

Question: What causes ribcage pain in people with RA and when should I talk to my doctor about it?

Pain in the ribcage area that feels like tightness or restricts breathing should always be discussed with your healthcare provider. This type of pain could be related to RA inflammation affecting the joints where your ribs connect to your breastbone or spine. Never feel guilty about bringing up new symptoms - your doctor needs to know about them to properly manage your condition and adjust treatment if needed. Here are some steps you can take:

β€’ Schedule an appointment with your rheumatologist to evaluate the pain
β€’ Keep a symptom diary noting when the pain occurs and what makes it better/worse
β€’ Your doctor may want to do imaging tests to check for inflammation
β€’ Be specific about how the pain affects your breathing and daily activities
β€’ Don't hesitate to seek immediate medical attention if the pain becomes severe or breathing becomes very difficult

Remember that bringing up new symptoms isn't complaining - it's an important part of managing your RA effectively.
