Yes and I’m not doing great mentally. They pick up on my feeling ill like I was a burden. Too sad to go on.
I have noticed it - the lack of contact. Family and certainly friends - it isn't the same as it once was. Painful to deal with...since I have been the one to reach out in the past. I try to give them all the benefit of the doubt. Life is difficult for all of us as we age.
The old saying that you can pick your friends but not your family is so very true. There is at least 9/10 and more years difference in my siblings and 4 step siblings. I’m the youngest one but my parents were divorced when I was 10. So all the others were grown by age but not mentally. So after the divorce at the age of ten., I raised myself. I was pushed around staying between my parents. I didn’t like the way that I was treated. I still loved my parents but both of them were a piece of work. I left home at the age of 15, got a job and rented a room from my best friend’s parents. I turned out okay. I put myself through school and college.
You never know who you can really trust in a family. It’s strange that I was the one who my parents and stepfather stayed with when they got old. My siblings didn’t care even though my parents made sure that they had everything that they wanted when they were growing up. I worked for my belongings. Life is so strange. I had looked after my three parents for years. I didn’t hold grudges. I rather spend my time on positive things and relationships. All three parents were hard working people. Some of my siblings work harder trying to get out of work. My biological father had children by five different women. I know that you get the idea. I think that my past relationships have helped me to live with RA. First of all you learn patience. You learn to take one day at a time. I only deal with my family if I have to. That’s my choice. The old me always tried to keep the peace in the family. Now I don’t waste my energy or time. So don’t feel bad for being a little selfish. Take care of yourself. Allow time to yourself whether you want to meditate or just have quiet time.
Try to prepare for the future. I have already prepared by widen doorways, had my bath tub made into a handicap shower and my other bathroom will be a walk-in tub scheduled for June 1st. I tell my children that I’m spending their inheritance on me. I have all my cabinets fixed with pull out shelves
I’m grateful that I have a husband who tries to do whatever craziness that I come up with. We are trying to make our lives easier and to be able to stay in our home. I’m finished venting for tonight. Take care of yourselves.

No offence taken I feel the same. I know they love me but they mostly don’t understand
It isn't just my kids it is my siblings as well. They have issues distance to but no phone calls and occasional text. I just don't get this non contact generation. Did COVID do this
