Members with multiple chronic illnesses connected over the confusing challenge of figuring out which medication is causing which side effect. Several members shared helpful strategies, including starting one new medication at a time, waiting about two weeks before adding another, calling the pharmacist with questions, and researching new medications before taking them. A recurring theme was learning to go with the flow, leaning on doctors for guidance, and finding comfort in knowing others in the community face the same daily uncertainty.

Not so much anymore. My medication regime is set in stone, for years now, and I don't mess with it. If a new med is added, and this isn't often, it's quite clear what's causing side effects. They're playing nicely for now.
My med basket will not fit another prescribed drug and supplement for my coexisting conditions. I'm not getting a larger basket so I cannot get another condition. No room at the inn.

Many times. Sometimes I don’t know what’s the medication side effect, or the disease.

• Bring a friend or family member to appointments to help remember details It's important to have a "quarterback" doctor (usually your primary care physician or rheumatologist) who can coordinate your overall care. Always remind each doctor about all medications you're taking and ask about potential interactions.

If something doesn't feel right or you're unsure about side effects, speak up! Your healthcare team can help adjust your treatment plan to work better for you.
