Members rallied around a post about palm pain, sharing their own experiences with hand and wrist conditions like tendinitis, synovitis, trigger finger, and carpal tunnel. Several members offered practical relief strategies including Voltaren gel, ice, paraffin wax wraps, night splints, and cortisone injections, with one member sharing that a hand surgeon injection brought relief lasting six weeks or more. A recurring theme was the frustration of feeling dismissed by rheumatologists, with many encouraging each other to seek hand specialists and advocate strongly for themselves.

I'm interested in the red light therapy as well so I hope we can get some posts on whether it helps or not

Carol, keep the hand specialist appointment. I'll fly out to Utah and go to the appointment in your place. The chances of me seeing a hand specialist here are slim to none.

Thank you for your experience with this. I used ice, then I put volteran on my wrist and palm. It did help some. I had to have my daughter pour the pitcher of Gatorade to my insulated cup with a handle so I could hook the 2 fingers that don't cause pain to lift to be able to drink it. I haven't been able to wrap my hand around anything today. I can but it's excruciating pain. I will use the ice and voltaren again later.

Pain in the hands is a common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis, which can make daily activities like gripping objects or applying pressure to the palms difficult and painful. Many myRAteam members report experiencing similar hand pain that interferes with everyday tasks like holding cups, opening jars, or applying pressure to their palms. Since RA typically affects the joints in the hands, particularly the knuckles and finger joints, it's important to have any new or changing hand pain evaluated by a rheumatologist. They can perform a physical exam and may recommend imaging like X-rays or ultrasound to determine the exact cause and best treatment approach for your hand pain.

If anyone goes for the red light, Therapy, please keep us posted. I was just reading about that and cryotherapy and that if you do them combined, it really works even better.
