Members shared experiences with painful veins or bumps appearing on their feet, with many describing similar episodes that sometimes resolve with rest and elevation. Several members offered practical strategies, including using red light therapy for pain relief, applying topical anti-inflammatory creams like Voltaren, wearing cushioned insoles or compression stockings, and understanding that ridges on foot bones from RA can press on nerves and cause discomfort. A recurring theme was the frustration of managing multiple ongoing symptoms, with members expressing solidarity over the unpredictable nature of RA and the challenge of juggling new problems alongside existing ones.

Pain and inflammation in the feet is a common symptom of RA, affecting about 20% of people as one of their first signs. When RA causes inflammation in the feet, it can affect blood vessels, joints, and surrounding tissues, potentially leading to visible changes and pain. Since this is a new symptom, it's important to discuss it with your rheumatologist. They can properly evaluate whether this is related to your RA activity and determine if any treatment adjustments are needed. In the meantime, some members have found relief through gentle foot soaks with warm water and Epsom salts, followed by elevating their feet.

Carol, ongoing things seem to go hand in hand with RA, already an ongoing thing. I hope your foot isn't one of them for you.
I'm losing track of all my ongoing things. Just get myself resigned to one or two ongoing things and I'm handed another one or two.I think the rule should be , at the very least, one thing should go before a new is added. My body isn't listening or read the rule book.

You might try to wear compression hose. They make some now that are better than what they used to make. I tried Tommy Copper and the tops were too tight so I recently bought Lifestride and they are better. They make some that are toeless. Which is what I like b/c my toenail give them runs. Its either Lifestride or Everstride. Can't remember which. If you use those you may not need a water pill.

Have you considered being checked for a DVT (blood clot)? They can be life-threatening.
