Getting diagnosed with RA can be a complex journey, especially since blood tests aren't always definitive. Some people have what's called seronegative RA, meaning they have RA symptoms but their blood tests come back negative for common RA markers.
The best way to advocate for yourself is to keep a detailed symptom journal. Track when and where you experience pain, swelling, or stiffness, and note how these symptoms affect your daily activities. This documentation can be invaluable when discussing your condition with healthcare providers. If you haven't already, request a referral to a rheumatologist, as they specialize in diagnosing and treating RA. They can evaluate your symptoms through a clinical examination, even if initial tests are inconclusive. Remember that early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for managing RA effectively, so persistence in seeking answers is important.
