Thank you, Paula. Neither surgeon recommends physical therapy. The one Dr., asked that you wait 6 weeks? My surgeon just said, “listen to your body.” I appreciate you Paula.

My sister in law had her's replaced, 1st one then the other. I was surprised at how quickly she was up and walking. Her's healed with no complications and she's very glad she decided to have them done.

Hip replacement surgery can help restore mobility and reduce pain for people with RA. Recovery typically takes between 2-4 weeks, though this varies based on factors like age, overall health, and nutrition status. During recovery, you'll likely need assistance walking at first, using devices like a walker or cane. Physical therapy will be a crucial part of your recovery journey. Working with a physical therapist helps you regain strength and movement in your new hip through specific exercises and stretches. An occupational therapist can also help you make adjustments to your environment and daily tasks to make recovery more comfortable. Many myRAteam members have had positive experiences with joint replacement surgery. One member shared that their total knee replacement "went great" and was "the best thing they could have done." Before surgery, be sure to discuss expected recovery time and post-operative care with your doctor. They should schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing progress.
