My dr recently suggested that I should start taking vitamin D3. I’ve been reading up on it and it boosts your immune system. My ra meds tone down the overactive immune system. Is anyone taking D3 ? Thoughts

Members discussed taking Vitamin D3 for RA, with many sharing that their rheumatologists recommended it due to consistently low levels found in blood tests. Several members paired D3 with K2, magnesium, calcium, or B12, and noted benefits like less fatigue, better bone health, and improved energy, while others raised the thoughtful concern of whether boosting immunity conflicts with RA meds that suppress it. A recurring theme was the importance of getting blood levels checked regularly and working closely with doctors to find the right dose.

Hi Barbera,
I am glad you described what is going on with you. I’m not sure if it was a typo or if you are really taking 50,000 units of vitamin D3 a day because that is really extreme and dangerous. I took 50000 units a week for 6 months and it made a difference and now take 5000 a day. Do the research and talk to your doctor more about it. Good luck !!

Hi Veronica, hope all is well. I take Vitamin D3 5,000 units with vitamin K for better absorbtion. I buy my vitamins from the best laboratory named Methogenics. I also buy from them vitamin B12. Omega XL is also a winner and I order that vitamin from their 800 number. This combination and stayung away from red meat, processed food and sugar has kept me away from having to take prescription drugs for RA. So far, so good thank God. Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. Good luck to you and many blessings. ❤️

When taking supplements I think it is necessary to stay within the daily limits for gender and age
