I have tried to find out with very little luck, ‘Does RA get worse year on year??’ I definitely can’t do as much as say three years ago. I know I am getting older, But is it just me or do any of you feel the same?? Would love to know. I’ve tried 2 biologics but neither worked and as I kept getting chest infections, I don’t think they are going to try anymore. Not sure where they can go now in assisting me to improve. Lizzy
Yes, Lizzyear, I feel that RA get progressively worse as you age. I was diagnosed at age 26. I’m now 68. After four hip replacements, two knee replacements, and a ton of medications, I’ve allowed myself three things: 1. Stop being a perfectionist. 2. I decide my medical treatment, not my doctor. They can give me options but I make the finally choice. 3. Rest when I am tired instead of pushing through the pain and past my limit, I rest. My motto is: No one will know in a hundred years if I don’t do…(fill in the blank). Like the dishes, vacuum, etc. It took me a long time to learn these three things. Hopefully, you will learn them sooner and your “golden years” will be longer and more enjoyable.
Lizzyear, my RA I don't think is worse but all the complications from it are horrible side effects of this horrible disease. I have an entrapped nerve root in my cervical spine and my Gallblader is full of sludge and gallstones. These have happened to me in the last year. I'm 71 years old. That's only a couple things that I can think of caused by RA that I have. There are more.
Cold compressing
It gets worse with time.
Lizzy stay strong, ur in my prayers.
