I had inherited high cholesterol since my 30s. Was always slim and hyper. At about 54 and 55, my husband and I both got a calcium score test. It is a fancy Xray.
I had totally clear arteries. My husband, who had lower cholesterol and exercised daily all his life, was bad so he got a stent for 95% blockage on one side and has to watch 50% blockage on the other side.
I took Prolia 2 years about 5 yrs ago. But I also have been taking a beta blocker for tachycardia and high BP and atorvastatin, for high cholesterol, for about 9 years now.
Some meds raise your cholesterol but your specialist will request that your GP adjust your cholesterol med and/or beta blocker to accommodate if needed. My atorvastatin was increased while taking Actemra.
It is very important to improve your osteoporosis and your cholesterol levels. It is extremely important that we do stretches and exercise at least 4 days a week or more.
I began walking daily, starting at 2 blocks. Then worked my way up to 3 miles a day. Walking my dogs, along with Prolia, improved my osteoPo to osteopenia. I was such a couch potato, I sweated like a racehorse, huffed and puffed, got weak...but built myself stronger, slowly. This was only 2.5 yrs ago. I am 65 now.
Everyone should request a calcium score test be done. My husband had no symptoms but he was "a heart attack waiting to happen" the doctor said. Steve teaches classes in Medicare. He recommends this test to everyone and shares his story. He literally, has saves lives by encouraging this. Especially, if ppl have ever smoked, drank alcohol, or have diabetes or other health issues that contribute to high cholesterol or atherosclerosis.
No , I take Sulfalazine. Wish I could be of more help, like finding a cure🙄🙄hope you’re ok 👍
Great information Jayne. I started Meloxicam for RA. I ended up in the ER for high blood pressure. I’m on BP meds for high blood pressure. But didn’t realize the med would raise my blood pressure. Lesson learned! Thank you!
No do not take those kind of meds
I do take Prolia and my last blood work showed high cholesterol
