I have been noticing the ridging, but my pinky today has this colored looking line. Anyone else have this? I did send a pic to my portal for my rheumy to view just in case.

Members connected over the shared experience of nail ridging in rheumatoid arthritis, with many confirming they have similar vertical ridges on fingernails and toenails, while some also noted dips, thin or peeling nails, and pain at the nail bed. Several members shared practical strategies including using Prolana nail strengthener from Amazon, applying vitamin E oil to dry cuticles, avoiding gel manicures and nail tips which can worsen nail damage, and sticking to regular polish or clear coats when getting manicures. The original poster updated the group after consulting a dermatologist, who confirmed the pigmented line was normal and that both the ridging and nail changes were linked to RA and Raynaud's, offering reassurance to the community.

I have had split, paper thin, ridged nails my whole life, inherited directly from Mom. I get them “done” because I do a lot of work with my hands and need a suit of armor on them so they don’t tear on the nail bed. 🤷‍♀️

Hi Dawnmichelle,
I also have the ridging on my nails - but no lines. My RA doctor suggested (a few years ago) that it might be a symptom of psoriatic arthritis but so far I have not been diagnosed with this disease. I'm curious to hear what your doc has to say about this condition too. Hugs to you. 🤗
