Anyone try this strictly? I have heard of people who are strict with it and have recovered from autoimmune diseases. I have heard M.D.'s say that protein is all we need.

I am not all "conspiracy theory", but I do believe there are significant differences between wheat today and wheat 50 years ago. There is a cost to all the chemicals, like roundup, that have entered our food stream in the name of increased yelds. The same foods that where healthy 100 years ago may not be as healthy today. Gluten, dairy, a plethora of sweetners, etc.

I think too many focus on the inclusion of the diet, rather than the exclusion, when evaluating the effect of any diet system or strategy. In this case, there are a LOT of things you are not eating when on the carnivore diet. Personally, I think that is why people see the benefit on this diet. Our digestive tract is just too short to make a carnivore diet make evolutionary sense to me. We seem to be designed to be omnivores. We can process anything, just inefficiently compared to carnivores or herbivores. The same inclusion/exclusion thought should be a factor in any diet evaluation. IMHO
