Hello
I'm sure some of you have experienced chest pains while in an RA flare. Can you tell me what the doctors determined were the cause and how they determined it? What tests did they run
My rheumatologist has suggested possible pericarditis. I did go to the ER the other day because the chest pains kept getting worse and going up in to my left shoulder. No signs of heart attack.
I know it's not heartburn, way different pain and I was also having difficulty breathing.
Thank you for any… read more
See a cardiologist. There is some link to RA and inflammation of the lining of arteries. Suspect that arterial inflammation can lead to an aneurism. In 2014 I had an emergent aortic dissection - only symptoms were a pain in my left jaw that moved to my left arm. Went to the ER. They were going to keep me overnight suspecting a heart attack. While in the ER, I had a stabbing pain in my back. A CT scan revealed the dissecting aorta. I was rushed to the OR and after 7 hours of surgery had a new synthetic ascending aorta.
this happened to me many years ago and no one understood the relation. thank you so much to this site
I am so sorry as it is scary. The first time I got it I went to the emergency room. So painful in the middle of my chest one. Pain to my jaw. Got relief lying down. They did all kinds of tests and were on the p with my cardiologist. It lasted maybe 2 hours. They found nothing. I do have it occur a couple times a year but it doesn't last as long. No answers🤷‍♀️. Good luck...hope it doesn't return. I will look up the 2 suggestions that were made.
Thank you all for your responses. I mentioned Costochondritis to my rheumatologist and he asked questions about lying on my side, etc. If the pain got worse or stayed the same. I think that is why he thought more pericarditis. The ER did some tests and my cardiologist has ordered some more. I was just curious about what others had experienced. Thanks again
