That’s such a shame for you but the real truth is that many people don’t have empathy for anyone. I was unwell before the start of my RA and I found that there were a few people who didn’t believe there was anything wrong at all.
I was a very active gramma of six and had a good circle of friends. Since being diagnosed in July I don’t and can’t see anyone. I miss my family terribly. Just don’t have any energy and can’t concentrate when in pain. Spend most of my time in bed. I have missed out on so much and continue to do so.
I don’t see any of my family or hear from them. Once my Mom died, our family did too. They are wrapped up in their own lives, I tell people I’m an orphan.
Sometimes people don't understand what we go through on a daily basis. I had one family member tell me I was self centered and playing the victim (among other things). This is someone who I helped and was there for him for his whole life. It really hurt and we didn't talk for awhile. We talk now, but it's not the same. I still love him, but I can't get passed how he doesn't understand or respect me anymore. I don't tell him much about my medical stuff as I know he thinks I'm just not that bad off. I let him call me. I don't make the first move as I feel he doesn't really care that much. Sad, but true. I've learned, over the years, that there are some people who totally get it and others who don't.
Yes my boyfriend does not understand and it causes problems for us. Sorry your going through this. Hugs and prayers
