I have done the two vaccines for Shingles. It was not the live vaccine. There is Shingles vaccine available that is not a live vaccine, talk to your Dr about it, as I was also told not to do live vaccines. The most I had was a sore arm at the injection site, first shot I had discolouration (bruising) on upper arm. Second was fine. I felt tired but I do with most vaccines as my immune system kicks into gear learning and building antibodies. I also had chicken pox as a child but was told still need the shingles vaccine. Having witness some adults who had to deal with the Shingles illness itself (not good at all) made me want to have the Shingles vaccine for sure. Not 100% guarantee one will not come down with Shingles but if by chance one does it will make the illness much milder.

You should ask your doctor. I was told I couldn't do live vaccines. I take Enbrel. Maybe things have changed since I was told that many years ago. I have been wondering about shingles myself. I know I had chicken pox as a child and I'm wondering if I even need the shingles vaccine. I'm going to ask my doctor when I see her.

I am on enbrel and methotrexate I had the shingles vaccine. First one no problems at all second one felt like poop. I hurt everywhere and was tired. That being said..glad I got it.
