To manage or prevent hair loss while taking methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis, consider the following steps:

- Consult Your Doctor: Speak with your rheumatologist or healthcare professional. They can determine if methotrexate is the cause and may adjust your dosage or change medications.
- Folic Acid Supplements: Your doctor might recommend folic acid supplements, which can help reduce some side effects of methotrexate.
- Gentle Hair Care: Be gentle when brushing or combing your hair to avoid breakage. Avoid tight hairstyles that can pull on your hair.
- Patch Test for Hair Products: Before using new hair dyes or treatments, perform a patch test to check for any allergic reactions.

If you notice significant hair loss, such as large clumps falling out or patchy hair loss, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

I was very sensitive to Methotrexate. A very low dose made my hair fall out by the hands full and I was losing my eye lashes!! My dr quickly switched my meds.
