As most of you know I was suspected to have RA by primary care a year ago. My Rheumatology appointment just came up a year later and I have been officially diagnosed. You know the drill. Methotrexate is the first line of treatment. I have always done natural remedies and do not want to take toxic RA meds. Has anyone out there refused to take Methotrexate and opted for natural options? What were they and how did they work?

Paula I don't know!how!to take this post down. It seems to really be stressing you out! I am newly diagnosed with this. I was simply asking a question. Your answer was very informative and I am going to start Methotrexate after hearing your opinion but please don't be rude and nasty to people for expressing theirs. This is supposed to be a supportive compassionate platform and everyone is on their own journey. Bottom line each person will make their own decision about their own journey. Thank you for your insight.

Stephen Buhner has a book on mycoplasma, the cause of RA. He has an herbal protocol in the book and does suggest tetracycline to take along with it. I have used his protocols for many things over the years. I wrote out his protocol and typical of me I took the full doses suggested which are always too high for me and I herxed. I need to get more pinella and burbur which taken every ten min until you feel better works great. I will begin again once I get that. I am doing the diet and taking doxy and tetracycline. The only med I tried my rheumy suggested was Placquenil and it made me extremely nauseous no matter how much I decreased it so stopped after a week.

I quit taking methotrexate after 9 months. Thought it gave me brain fog. I need to try a more herbal approach to this RA.

I have gone through 9 different RA meds and none of them have been successful. Now my Rheumy wants me to take Cymbalta and it only gives me diarrhea and makes me vomit. No thanks. I am taking my own road to healing and it does not include toxic medicines. We get to make choices for our own health.
