Happy new year everyone (-:

Over about 13 years of having RA, my weight has slowly crept up and this year I have decided that I need to put on the brakes and reverse this issue.

I have read a lot about the Keto diet and intermittent fasting. I went out and purchased a couple of books to help me along and am now on day 7 of my new way of eating. So, I have lost 3kg already which is great, but, the most amazing thing is, the awful heart burn from which I have suffered for the past 10 years has… read more

Yes, I got the Fast 800 keto recipe book by Dr Claire Bailey and Michael Mosley, plus I got their previous book The fast 800 (the blue book) to be honest, I thought 800 calories per day was going to be too hard, but, I have actually adapted quite well and because of the choices I am making, I don’t actually feel hungry.

You can gain a lot of information about the fast 800 from the internet without even buying the books, but I have decided to do this over an extended period so wanted some good recipes at my finger tips.

Thank you Huntley,

My husband is doing it with me so that makes it a whole lot easier. I pack his lunches for him daily, today is his first day back at work after the holidays.

For morning tea I have substituted his usual 3 chocolate biscuits with a slice of water melon (chopped into pieces)

For lunch he is having 2 pork sausages with keto cauliflower cheese (left overs from the fridge)

Dinner tonight will be rump steak with a side of mixed egg salad

Dessert will be 4 strawberries chopped up with Greek yoghurt ( we might pass on this if we are not still hungry)

He doesn’t drink tea or coffee so no need to worry about that, he has a large bottle of iced water to sip on during the day.

Just an example of what you can have and not feel hungry

Good luck, I will be pleased if you join me

I lost a lot of weight quick on the keto. However, as soon as realize all the meat may not be very healthy and stopped put it all back just as quickly. Intermittent fasting I have been dabbling in. I think when in a flare it is hard to move let alone walk so I may eat more as some comfort. Trying to curb that.
