I found out that my RA is not affecting my joints much but it is in my organs such as my heart and kidneys. This illness for me is life threatening. I'm very scared and concerned. I don't know what to expect going forward.....
Hi Meg, I always thought RA just attacked the joints but no, it can affect all parts of the body. Hope you are on a medication to help control your symptoms. We are all here for each other. Reach out whenever you need to. Always here to listen and offer support.
Meg All of us are in your corner! I have had RA for 38 years. Happy to answer questions, though I have not had organ involvement. Have tried virtually all the meds though, and have managed to live a full life with this disease. Do you have a good rheumatologist?
Like you, I have organ involvement but with my lungs. It is scary and life threatening. Hope you get some answers!
Hang in there Meg. When you are booked with a rheumatologist you can ask to be put on a cancellation list and hopefully get in sooner.
Sounds like juvenile RA. At what age were you diagnosed?…and assuming it went sometime before they even thought to check someone young for such a thing. I have had RA for most of my 53 years, wasn’t diagnosed until I was late 20’s. It was a rough first couple decades, looking normal but my body was trying to destroy me from the inside out. You’ll spend a lot of time looking for answers, don’t give up.
