I have tried hydrochloriquine, methotrexate and several others and had horrible side effects . Dr recommend Enbrel. My co pay us $2,100 a month. I can’t afford that and have applied for assistance from the company. If not approved what are my options?

Members rallied around someone struggling with a $2,100 monthly Enbrel copay, offering a wealth of strategies to bring costs down. Several members recommended manufacturer copay assistance programs (such as Enbrel.com and Humira.com), which can reduce costs to as little as $5, as well as calling the manufacturer directly, asking the rheumatologist for coupons, checking GoodRx, and switching from infusion to self-injection to lower copays. A recurring theme was persistence and patience, with members sharing that assistance programs can take time to process, paperwork can get lost, and it's worth following up directly with the manufacturer rather than relying solely on the doctor's office.

My rheumatologist called my insurance this year and they approved my Humira for me. Now it costs over $100 per copay instead of the $5 last year. Do not ask your doc to help!

Is that a copay for an infusion or self-injectable at home? I had to switch from infusion to home self-injection because of the co-pay....worth looking into as the Biologics are game changers (I also went through several medications the first few years, so I know your frustration is at a 10). Good Luck and don't give up...

I can't really remember the first time I did it. I have to re-enroll every year with a phone call. You can call them to find out what's going on.
