7 weeks ago started on methotrexate 10mg, stiffness and pain has increased as have other symptoms. 3 weeks ago discussed with Dr, folic acid other 6 days trial then possible injections. Not seeing any light in the tunnel as pain is now always there.
Is this normal for symptoms to get worse?
Methotrexate took 6 weeks to do anything for me then I was put on folic acid as well, I was on 25mg. Maybe 18 months, this kept issues at bay from the RA.
Eventually methotrexate was not enough and things got worse.
I needed to be put on Humira for RA and other things to prevent Humira side effects. Humira + Methotrexate has worked for me, now for 4 years (now I am on 20mg methotrexate after I complained about side effects). That being said, I made sure with my neurologist that none of this new stuff I got put on is interfering with my other treatments (it does not cause conflict).
I just started my second month on methotrexate myself. My problem is I have a number of other medical issues so it’s hard to decipher one from another. We have each other. I don’t expect miracles anymore. I take it hour by hour and I do mean hour by hour. The hardest thing is when people leave you cuz you can go out and about with them or plan ahead. Take care. You have lots of pals here.
My personal opinion I don't believe in methotrexate. Too many side effects. Did not work for me. Just a thought😀
I've been on that medication for a long time (7months) it's a little change, I don't hurt like I use to, it takes a long time for it to get in your system, months and you have to get blood work every so many months to make sure it's not affecting your kidneys and liver
Cheers, not being able to plan ahead sucks!
If i do, too often, i let people down
