I cannot take heat and no air moving. It takes me no time to break into a sweat with my hair dripping in sweat. My RA doctor, OBGYN, and PCP had no ideas. Currently working with my internal doctor. All blood tests and thyroid are ok. This has been on going for about 5 years and getting worse.

Members connected over the frustrating and often embarrassing experience of excessive sweating and heat intolerance, with many describing drenched clothing, dripping hair, and sudden waves of heat in everyday situations like grocery shopping or being in stores. Several members shared possible explanations they discovered through their own journeys, including perimenopause (which can last up to 10 years), inflammation from RA, low vitamin D levels, medication side effects, and age-related changes in temperature regulation. A recurring theme was the relief of knowing others experience the same struggle and the importance of ruling out underlying causes like hormonal shifts, vitamin deficiencies, or medication reactions with your medical team.

I can only offer my own experience . I would sweat so much that I would soak thru my clothes. 20 minutes into my grocery shopping trip and my hair would be so wet it was embarrassing. I can remember trying to pick out a card for a friend and as I looked down I was dripping sweat on them. I eventually had hot flashes , and fanned myself constantly. During a visit with my endocrinologist, I mentioned these things . I thought I was too young for menopause, and I had a partial hysterectomy a few years earlier. She told me it was perimenopause. As she explained, that could last for years before full menopause began. For me , it was 10 years and then full menopause a year and 9 months or so. I was so glad to have an explanation ! I wasn't a crazy person after all..lol.

I found out that a lack of or low vitamin D also causes sweating. I was beginning to sweat often and never had any problems before until I quit taking vitamin D to help bring up my blood platelets. Once I began taking the vitamin D again the sweating disappeared but platelets came down.

I have loved hot weather my entire life. My motto was it could never be too hot!
I am 78 now and the past three years heat and high humidity can cause me to feel panicked. I have to get to cooler areas. I perspire enough that my hair is dripping wet.

I also seem to have a lower tolerance to cold weather as well. I live in MInnesota and when it gets to around zero I find I have to take breaks from snowblowing after about 15 minutes to come inside and warm up. I use good cold weather gear glove warmers etc.

I have assumed that it might be age related.
