Members shared where they first felt rheumatoid arthritis pain in response to someone experiencing hand pain when making a fist, with locations varying widely from elbows, hands, and fingers to feet, shoulders, neck, hips, and knees. Several members described sudden onset experiences, including one who went from feeling great to being unable to move within minutes, while others noticed gradual stiffness over years before a specific joint forced them to seek help. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of RA pain that moves around the body, the relief found through treatments like Prolia injections or warming remedies, and the importance of advocating loudly with doctors to finally receive proper diagnosis and care.

I think I finally realized there was something wrong when the pain in my right elbow/arm would not go away. I’ve had stiffness and pain throughout my body for years. Nothing that really stopped me, it was just always there. The pain in my elbow (since October) gets really bad. It stopped me and ultimately what started my road of discovery to RA. Who knew? I didn’t! For your hands, try holding something warm. I’ve read that warmth breaks up the synovial fluid and eases stiffness. ❤️

Oh I truly feel for you with that and if I had a slow gradual onset of RA i probably just kind of ignored it because being a professional drummer my whole life there are certain aches and pains you get and just tribute it to playing drums but the sudden aggressive onset attack I had was a shocker and scary but I was instantly thrown into treatment and referred to an RA Dr by my primary Dr instantly
