I’ve been prescribed enbrel. I would like to hear everyone’s experiences with taking it. So far, I’ve only taken mtx and folic acid
I do not agree with Norman. There are no cures to autoimmune diseases. The companies that sell these medications depending on your financial situation have various programs that allow the medicine to either be free or affordable. You do not have to go through the “Big Pharm” like I went through Xeljanz and got a great deal for a year. Because of my financial situation. I do not know what you are selling Norman but it is not sold in USA. There is something about Kenya in there? Anyway I would definitely caution anyone who comes into this group that complains about “Big Pharma” then comes out with some kind of bogus treatment plan that is a cure all for autoimmune that is not accepted in the USA.
My cousin takes enbrel for ankeloysing spondylitis. She says it works great on her.
I hope it works for you too!
Enbrel was one of the first Bio meds I was on... It worked great for about a year then I started getting back to back thrush infections .. Moved on to Humira .. Again about a year and it quit working but no side effects .. I was scared to try the infusions but was on Actemra and it was the best Bio Med I used ... Was on it some 7 years , then I got Bladder Cancer .. Even though it is a Black Box warning drug as is most RA meds I am in no one blaming the Actemra ..We know the risk and I was a former smoker and that is # 1 on the list for Bladder cancer ... But was taken off all RA meds through the surgery's and Chemo / BCG treatments ... Been on Rinvoq for awhile now ...If you do take pain meds just make sure you take as directed ... The doctors are scared now and under medicating because too many people would use a months worth of pain meds in 3 days and want to blame the Doctors because they got strung out ... This is your life now as long as your on this side of the green grass and there is no sense in living the rest of your life in pain because your scared to get addicted to something .. We are all addicted to AIR , but if you have had issues with drugs and booze , you will be hit with random drug test and they will count your pills , so if you mess up you will be out of luck ..Please Behave and find an RA med that works best for you and also do not forget your diet... Certain foods you once loved can be your biggest enemy ... Fight on RA Warriors !!!!

Hey there, Veronica! I'm on the same regimen as you, having Enbrel for a couple of years now. I'm pleased with the results, but thank goodness for the manufacturer's copay program! I've recently discovered through the insurance's nurses that the pens can stay unrefrigerated for up to 14 days; however, it cannot be refrigerated again once it has reached room temperature. The company will provide you with a travel pack upon request, which has made travel nicer. It has an Rx card insert, in case TSA needs validation of the medication. The sharps containers are provided, as are the alcohol swabs, and I've recently become enrolled in a program that will send a box to return the full sharps containers. Around here, I can either drive 1-2 hours to NC to a hazardous waste drop site, or about an hour to Salem, VA for one there, so the new mail disposal method greatly improves the convenience!) When you do inject, make sure the alcohol has dried on your skin before using the injector - gaah, alcohol stings! - and yes, let the pen warm up to room temperature to decrease any chance of pain from injecting cold liquid in your comfy warm body. 😁
