I’ve been prescribed enbrel. I would like to hear everyone’s experiences with taking it. So far, I’ve only taken mtx and folic acid

Members shared a wide range of experiences with Enbrel, with many reporting years of strong relief from pain and stiffness, while others found it stopped working after a period of time or caused side effects like injection site reactions, rashes, and in one severe case, a life-threatening infection from injecting with an open wound. Several members emphasized practical tips such as letting the pen reach room temperature before injecting to reduce pain, choosing injection sites with more fat, applying for manufacturer patient assistance programs to reduce costs (especially challenging on Medicare), and being vigilant about avoiding injections when you have cuts or infections. A recurring theme was that while Enbrel worked remarkably well for some, often in combination with methotrexate, every person's response is different, and finding the right medication requires patience, self-advocacy, and close communication with your rheumatologist.

I do not agree with Norman. There are no cures to autoimmune diseases. The companies that sell these medications depending on your financial situation have various programs that allow the medicine to either be free or affordable. You do not have to go through the “Big Pharm” like I went through Xeljanz and got a great deal for a year. Because of my financial situation. I do not know what you are selling Norman but it is not sold in USA. There is something about Kenya in there? Anyway I would definitely caution anyone who comes into this group that complains about “Big Pharma” then comes out with some kind of bogus treatment plan that is a cure all for autoimmune that is not accepted in the USA.

I’ve been on Enbrel for 6 years now and I love it. I choose the prefilled needles over the sure click because I didn’t have enough fat on my legs to make injection less painful. I’m also taking hydroxychloroquine and leuflunomide. My recent inflammation markers were through the roof. Hoping the addition of the hydrox and leu will calm things down.

Enbrel was one of the first Bio meds I was on... It worked great for about a year then I started getting back to back thrush infections .. Moved on to Humira .. Again about a year and it quit working but no side effects .. I was scared to try the infusions but was on Actemra and it was the best Bio Med I used ... Was on it some 7 years , then I got Bladder Cancer .. Even though it is a Black Box warning drug as is most RA meds I am in no one blaming the Actemra ..We know the risk and I was a former smoker and that is # 1 on the list for Bladder cancer ... But was taken off all RA meds through the surgery's and Chemo / BCG treatments ... Been on Rinvoq for awhile now ...If you do take pain meds just make sure you take as directed ... The doctors are scared now and under medicating because too many people would use a months worth of pain meds in 3 days and want to blame the Doctors because they got strung out ... This is your life now as long as your on this side of the green grass and there is no sense in living the rest of your life in pain because your scared to get addicted to something .. We are all addicted to AIR , but if you have had issues with drugs and booze , you will be hit with random drug test and they will count your pills , so if you mess up you will be out of luck ..Please Behave and find an RA med that works best for you and also do not forget your diet... Certain foods you once loved can be your biggest enemy ... Fight on RA Warriors !!!!
