I have been taking Fosamax (weekly) for osteoporosis for the past two years. Fortunately, I have never experienced any side effects! My endocrinologist was pleased to see improvement in my DEXA scans after a year of Fosamax, so I'm sure I'll continue with this treatment for a few more years.
Phyllis, I was a dental hygienist for 35 years, now retired. I learned that Fosamax was only a problem when having extractions, due to the way the medication works. Of course, osteoporosis can affect the jaw bone density and the bone levels between teeth.
Thanks for your reply I heard it can have a bad effect on teeth and gums in some people I'm just a little anxious about taking it..x
