Good morning all.....I pray you all find something to be thankful for. My question is this...I have been doing Cimzia injections for 5 months now...a month ago my Dr added Methotraxate as the Cimzia was working that well. I was losing a little hair before I started the Metho which I'm pretty sure was due to stress during my Father's illness and his death. When the Metho was prescribed I also started 1 MG of Folic acid daily along with Biotin and many other Vitamins. Members shared mixed experiences with hair loss on methotrexate, with some reporting thinning that slowed after increasing folic acid, while others described significant hair loss that only stopped when they discontinued the medication. Several members offered practical strategies, including asking doctors about higher doses of folic acid or Leucovorin, trying biotin supplements, working with a registered dietitian on an anti-inflammatory diet that eliminates dairy and gluten, and using hot water or showers to ease morning joint pain and stiffness. A recurring theme was that methotrexate affects everyone differently, and while some found relief through dietary changes or adjusting medications like adding Cimzia or switching to biologics such as Benepali, others emphasized the importance of working closely with doctors to find the right balance between managing arthritis symptoms and minimizing side effects.

I worked with a registered dietitian. We did elimination diet and for me I eliminated all dairy and gluten. I try to not eat to many additives and added more water and fruit. Some books mentioned certain vegetables, but I did not need to eliminate any veggies. The dietitian was covered on my insurance so that was great. Most of my pain is gone but also so much more energy. No fatigue days since October!! I feel like I have been given a second chance at life.

I hate the hair loss too from the methotrexate. My doctor is thinking about reducing it because I have had great pain relief with starting an anti inflammatory diet. He said my hair will come back if we can decrease the methotrexate.
