My RA doctor did X-rays to see if my back pain is related to my RA but I don't know the results yet. In my lower back it feels as if there a metal rod in my back and the other areas of my back feel like there are rocks in it. It makes it very difficult to sit or lay down. Has anyone else experienced these feelings or anything similar?

Thank you for the information. I have been going to physical therapy for my shoulder (I fell and had a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum) and the pain after physical therapy has been a nightmare. I now need another surgery on my shoulder because one of the pins came out and is also causing issues with healing. I haven't been to physical therapy for approximately 2 weeks which has helped to relieve the pain a little. Due to my shoulder though, I am unable to take a bath. I will try to do tai chi or yoga though. I don't really have anywhere that I can currently go to swim. That would be my choice if available. Hugs!

RA can and does affect all of our organs, bones, tissue, etc. There are other autoimmune diseases that can also affect given areas, such as lower back. May I suggest, if you can, try taking a warm bath with Epsom salts and or lavender to relax and reduce swelling or stiffness in your body. Additionallt, swimming, tai chi and yoga are helpful in loosing tight muscles and easing pain.
I hope this helps.
Take care of you.

We!l Ra is not commonly associated with low back or mid back spinal abnormalities. However there. Are. Outlier effects. There could be another disease process going on I've not experienced spinal issues. I hope that I don't.

My sympathy
