Members helped clarify confusion around a new diagnosis of O+ RA, with several explaining that O likely refers to osteoarthritis rather than a blood factor, and that having both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis means managing two distinct conditions at once. Several members shared their own experiences juggling multiple forms of arthritis, describing osteoarthritis as painful but more treatable than autoimmune types, and offering practical advice such as finding a good rheumatologist, keeping a symptom journal, writing down questions before appointments, and avoiding excessive googling that can create unnecessary fear. A recurring theme was the emotional challenge of newly understanding a complex diagnosis, met with warm reassurance that it's okay to feel overwhelmed, that the community is here to listen and share experiences, and that with time and the right treatment, it's possible to regain control and live well.

Where you referred to a Rheumatologist? My labs led to my course of treatment. I do a lot of research but don’t second guess my Dr. Keep a journal of your symptoms And treatments, also.

It's okay to have a little pity party. We all have those times. Just remember that you are not alone. Many people on here are dealing with multiple issues and are willing to listen and share their experiences. Hugs...

I have had osteo since I was about 20, 64 now, and still had no replacements due to it. Osteo is more treatable. It is often caused by injury to a joint or bone. I have it from breaking toes, wrists, dislocating knee caps, etc. It is also in my lumbar region and neck due to fusions. Neck was due to an auto accident and lumbar is due to cysts forming on the nerve sacs of the spine. Osteo (OA) is painful, but as I stated, not as debilitating as the PsA (Psoriatic Arthritis). A good orthopedic doctor can help you determine severity and treatment. Good luck on your quest to have more comfortable times.

If I remember correctly, there are over 100 different types of RA. PsA has 5 different types.
OA is not an autoimmune issue. I have 4 diagnosed autoimmune diseases, so life does go on... We just have to decide how much we let it control us. Not sure how long you have been aware of your ailments, but time does help us learn what helps and what doesn't. You will figure it out. Hugs and Blessings my new friend.

If I understand correctly, it is osteo arthritis and RA? Am I correct? I have osteo along with Psoriatic Arthritis. The osteo is painful and can lead to replacement or fusion of joints, but is not nearly as debilitating. Osteo also is not an autoimmune disease. Prayers for you to get a handle on what is going on in your body. Hugs...

I have osteoarthritis, osteopenia and seropositive rheumatoid arthritis. I was diagnosed in April 2019 and still trying to get a handle on it. My advice would be to do your homework before just taking any rheumatologist. Write down all your questions before your appointment. Try not to google too much as it will scare the hell out of you. Finally, don’t be afraid of treatment as the alternative is a lot worse. This site is awesome as you will get honest answers. Stay strong, we are all in this together.
