Members connected over the frustrating side effects of methotrexate, with many experiencing similar symptoms like metallic taste, nausea, and hair loss, though some found these issues improved with the injectable form rather than pills. Several members offered practical strategies, including taking the medication at night to reduce nausea, using folic acid on non-methotrexate days to lessen side effects, and switching to self-administered weekly injections like Rasuvo, which many found easier to tolerate than pills or more painful biologics like Humira or Enbrel. A recurring theme was the trial-and-error journey of finding the right medication and dosing method that works for each individual body, with encouragement to keep advocating for alternatives if side effects become unbearable.

Haven't had that problem, but I'm on Rasuvo which is methotrexate in an injection. Are you taking pills? Maybe that's the difference.

No metal taste, but lost lots of hair.
An tests showed no shrinkage of panus in neck. Getting new med this week. Tried remicad and ended up in hospital for 6 days. Apparently people have different reactions. Keep searching for the one that works for you.

When I was on that, I had the same problem
My hair started to fall out so they took me off of it
Hugs and hope you find something that works

@EastcostRA, I was told by my previous Rheumatologist that the injectable form of Methotrexate, has less side effects than the pill form.
You can give yourself the injection, once per week, at home, after being given some instructions.
Also, are you taking Folic acid on the other 6 days?
Folic acid helps with side effects.
