What kind of things should I be looking for if I want it specifically for pain relief? Is there something I can literally rub onto my knee when I have knee pain? Or is this a general thing? Forgive my ignorance.

I started a couple of weeks ago on Plus CBD oil, the lowest strength of 33 mg.
I have noticed I am able to sleep at least 6 hrs and sometimes as much as 8 hrs without waking from pain. I can face the day so much better if I've had good quality sleep. I mainly use it at bedtime, but when I awaken with significant pain and stiffness I will take a dose then and throughout the day if I need it. I have had RA for 40 years and I am open to ANYTHING that helps with pain, sleep, etc. Yes there are creams for specific topical/spot application, capsules that are ingested that come with/without vitamins/herbs for various conditions such as anxiety, etc and the oil that is usually put under the tongue-absorbed within 30 seconds for quick relief. I went to our local health food store and they provided me with a ton of information to help with my decision as to which kind was the best for me. Good luck!

I use a prescribed cream called Diclofenac...it is a strong anti-inflammatory. It does not make the knee pain completely go away but it helps. I also take prescription CBD oil (here in Canada where it is Leagal!)
