I have done the melatonin thing, the soft light & music thing, all the OTC junk, exercise thing, warm bath, I can't even take a nap for more than 15 minutes.

Benadryl or Xanax work for me. I prefer benadryl. I have crazy dreams on xanax but it works. I also swear by a hot bath with Epson salt and eucalyptus oil before bed. Good luck.

I tried Lunesta and Ambien and I was sleeping walking....it was horrible cause I was cooking and sometimes calling 911 and other times making hot tea in the microwave while holding my 3 year old son and walking like I was drunk. I could had burned him to death and that's when i pulled the plug on those sleeping meds. They are dangerous and other people have found themselves sleep walking and in worse situations than myself.

I now take trazodone 200 mg's and I've been taking for years and it works for me and it's safe. However, along with having RA, I also have insomnia, and fibromyalgia. With trazodone i can fall asleep within 20 to 30 minutes but I wake up around 3:30am to 4am and can't go back to sleep. What's interesting is that i would wake up every 3hrs to nurse my triplets and here we are 14yrs later still waking up with that schedule! Lol

This was before I got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. Thank God!

I take one Sominex about three hours before I go to bed, and I sleep like a baby.
