Members confirmed that spider veins and red blotchy marks on the legs are a common experience while taking methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis, with many viewing it as an acceptable trade-off for reduced pain levels. Several members shared that they also developed varicose veins, deep vein issues that sting and itch, or unexplained rashes that eventually faded, though some noted their vein issues predated medication or ran in their families. A recurring theme was the pragmatic acceptance that managing RA often requires tolerating side effects, with members encouraging each other to discuss symptoms with their rheumatologists while staying focused on the relief these medications provide.

Yes. But I have had RA twelve years an my osteo is now very serious. I wanted to keep working. I did that with steroid shots. An so now I have steroid induced bone thinning. Back to veins. My vien issues started when i started metrotreate but alot of meds cause that. Like steroid shots. Or prednisone by mouth. Sometimes RA patients really need steroids an meds very badly.

Yes I have both spider and varicose but there before I used any meds and a big red blotch on my left leg all long before the meds perhaps we are susceptible because of our condition.
