I have developed these near my elbows and on my Right hand. They are most tender when joint pain is at its peak. Dr said lumps are not normal but I have read they are. Has anyone else had sudden onset of such tender lumps?

Members overwhelmingly confirmed experiencing tender lumps near joints, commonly called rheumatoid nodules, which appear most often near elbows, wrists, hands, and fingers and tend to be most painful during flare-ups. Several members shared that their doctors identified the lumps as normal RA nodules or, in some cases, granuloma sarcoidosis confirmed through biopsy, with one member noting their doctor offered drainage as an option. A recurring theme was the relief of knowing these lumps are a recognized part of living with RA, along with practical tips like using melaleuca oil to help reduce size and tenderness.

I have them on my elbows and on my thumbs. The ones on my fingers come and go...the ones on my elbows are hard to get rid of and super painful! They call them RA nodules. I use the melalueca oil on them and it does help them shrink some....Hope that helps!
