Yes yes and yes. I'm on birth control now --vaginal ring--and no longer get flares pre period. My doc said there are anecdotal correlations between flares but every woman with ra I've talked to has them.

My rheumatologist told me that there is a hormonal connection for women, and to expect it to get worse/better at certain times in my cycle. There have been studies into the relationship between estrogen, progesterone, and RA (e.g. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6859063)

Tell your Dr. you feel he/she is ignoring this question and you need answers. That is what you are paying him/her for whether it be thru your insurance or your money.
