When I refer to alternative measures I don't mean "I tried going gluten free" or "I tried eliminating dairy" - I mean have you actively worked to change your diet & lifestyle and worked to bring your body into balance?Have you attempted to heal your permeable gut? I have been on the Anti inflammatory diet for about a year and it’s been great! I have been working with a trainer to work on my strength. Both of which have been very helpful. I still get flares but not quite as frequent and it has certainly helped my fatigue and anxiety.

I was diagnosed a year ago and my suspicion is that breast cancer radiation lowered my immunity system so this RA kicked my butt when I came down with a flu. Anyhow, I've been gluten free for 4 years, cut out red meat and pork a year ago, occasionally will eat Organic chicken and very rarely will have some form of dairy (hard cheese) b/c I' lactose intolerant. I juice 4x a week, eat primarily a plant-based diet with salmon or tuna on occasion. A naturopathic Dr weaned me off prednisone and told me NOT to take any of the RA drugs. that worked for about 8 months. I had to stop the tumeric supplements and 2,000 Omega A fish oil he had me on b/c I had to have surgery. Two weeks later, the fingers on my one hand swelled and its been 2 months now. So, Yes, I a doing the WORK and I listen to my body and my symptoms are not debilitating but this disease kicks ass in the sense that I cannot control the swelling. I do not have fatigue nor any of the symptoms many have so NUTRITION and SEEING A FUNCTIONAL M.D. or a Naturopathic Dr are ESSENTIAL.

Are you taking medications? I had a trainer and had worse joint pain b/c he tried to get me to do push ups and increase weights which now that I was diagosed with RA well it all makes sense why I was in contracture after working out. I just saw a functional mD and she says Leaky Gut contributes.
