Members rallied around someone facing a two-month wait for hip replacement surgery, offering a wealth of practical advice for managing pain and sleep in the meantime. Several members recommended topical pain relief options like Tiger Balm and REAL TIME Pain Relief lotion, using ice packs secured with a back support belt, sleeping with a pillow under the knees, adding a foam mattress pad, and investing in mobility aids like canes, walkers, and even a recliner lift chair to ease discomfort before and after surgery. A recurring theme was the importance of following doctor's orders about stopping medications pre-surgery, stocking up on helpful tools like grabbers and shower seats, and leaning on the community's lived experience and encouragement to get through the challenging waiting period.

I sleep with a pillow under my knees. I also bought a 4 inches thick foam mattress pad and that helps my hips. I sleep on my side or my back. I hope this helps you.

if you can lay on one of those square ice-cube like ice packs they really help my hip/back pain. (probably because it numbs it, right??) Anywho, hard to do anything while laying on an ice pack, but I have started using my black back support belt to hold it in place. Tuck the ice around the bottom flap of your shirt then put on the support belt. It actually stays in place!!! (So you can abuse your back and work hard some more, right?)
