if I am on this medication and I am experiencing side effects of hair loss and very thin nails can I take maternal as a supplement to replace the vitamins I need I read that some women started taking this and the side effects subsided is this true
I have been on methotrexate for over a year. My RA gave me folic acid that I take daily to help with the side effects. At first I had hair loss but it has gotten better.

lost hair too, then my liver enzymes got too high had to stop taking it
I just started with 1mg of folic acid but since I was so sick from mtx and just starting my rheumy wants me to take 3mg for side effects
Folic acid on it 20 yrs doses changed over time but mtx same
I have not been perscribe any drug yet by perscription so I can not give an answer to this one but keep me updated as I am very sure I will be asking for a perscription for the the pain. Hope you get your answer soon.
