Members shared practical strategies for managing nausea and headaches from methotrexate, with the most common suggestions being to take the medication at night to sleep through side effects, increase folic acid to six days per week instead of four, and try ginger tea or anti-nausea medications like Prochlorperazine. Several members found relief by switching from oral tablets to methotrexate injections, which tend to cause fewer stomach issues, while others mentioned that symptoms often improve after the first few weeks as the body adjusts. A recurring theme was the importance of staying hydrated, taking omeprazole or similar stomach protectors, and working closely with a rheumatologist to adjust dosing or explore alternative treatments like biologics if side effects become unmanageable.
